D850AAV was probably Whippet's most celebrated bus. A Willowbrook bodied Atlantean AN68 which was originally destined for Iraq. A small war intervened and it wasn't exported with its sisters. I wonder if any of them still exist. Drummer St bus station, Cambridge 1987

Now part of the Stagecoach Empire, Lincolnshire Road Car Co ran a fairly standard NBC fleet, then when it took over Lincoln City Transport and became part of the Strathtay/Yorkshire Traction Group, all manner of exotica became common. Some of the interesting independent operators, including Appleby and The Delaine are also included.

12th Dec 2006Buses in Carlisle - 1970s to 21st Century
***UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2009*** I began taking bus photos in the 1970s using a Coronet Flashmaster 120 roll film camera, then progressed via 126 to 35mm using a Fed 3 (clunky but reliable). My first SLR was a Zenit 3m, before I was given a Petri (Dixons' answer to the Pentax ME Super). I have now progressed to digital via numerous other Pentax SLRs. The early shots are a bit rough, but I had no way of telling if the exposure was correct, or if the subject had been stopped by the very slow shutter of the Flashmaster. There are shots of Ribble, Cumberland, United, Western SMT, Eastern Scottish and many more. Later photos show the influence of Stagecoach and the aftermath of the January 2005 floods.
5th Dec 2006Various Locos in Carlisle 1980s to 1990s
*** NEW PHOTOS ADDED 11/08/2008 *** A selection of some of the variety of locos and trains which could be seen in Carlisle from around 1980 until the early 1990s.
